Yarmouk University organized the scientific and career day and graduation project exhibition in the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science, under the title "Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence and Their Impact on Society," as part of the university's golden jubilee celebrations. This event reflects the university's direction toward enhancing integration between the academic environment and the technology and industry sectors, and empowering students and graduates to actively engage in the job market.
The event aims to bridge the gap between academic education and labor market requirements thru an interactive platform that brings together students and graduates with representatives from national and international companies. This contributes to providing quality training and employment opportunities, supporting entrepreneurship and innovation pathways, and encouraging students to develop viable entrepreneurial projects, in addition to raising awareness of the rapid developments in the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity and their impacts on society.
The President of Yarmouk University, Professor Dr. Malik Al-Shrairi, affirmed in his speech during the inauguration that the university is confidently moving toward excellence and innovation, pointing out that the world is witnessing an unprecedented digital revolution that has made technology a main driver of the global economy and a fundamental pillar in the development and stability of societies.
He emphasized the importance of integrating scientific events with job fairs and showcasing graduation projects in the presence of private sector partners, which allows for the review of student innovations, the discovery of promising talents, and the opening of broader horizons for employment and training.
He pointed out that the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity receive royal attention and patronage from His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, and are followed and envisioned by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, considering them as strategic sectors that serve as a lever for future economic development.
In the same context, Al-Sharairi emphasized the importance of developing students' technical, personal, and leadership skills, and not just focusing on academic achievement, stressing the need for continuous preparation to keep up with the changing demands of the job market.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science, Professor Dr. Qassem Al-Radaideh, expressed his pride in the continued organization of this annual event, which combines theoretical knowledge and practical application, affirming the faculty's commitment to developing students' skills and honing their technical abilities in an inspiring educational environment.
He explained that the showcased graduation projects represent the fruit of collaboration between students and faculty members, embodying their ability to transform knowledge into innovative technical solutions that serve the community and the digital industry sector, affirming the college's commitment to continuously enhancing its academic outputs.
The scientific day included a first panel discussion titled "Cybersecurity: The Shield of Society in the Digital Age," moderated by Dr. Hadeel Al-Azzam, with the participation of Engineer Ghassan Dheeb, Director of the Cyber Operations Directorate, Major Mohammed Al-Jarrah, Head of the Cybersecurity Department at the Public Security Directorate, Dr. Qassem Abu Al-Heijaa, Head of the Cybersecurity Department at Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Engineer Mohammed Al-Khudari, Executive Director of the Green Circle Company.
A second panel discussion titled "Artificial Intelligence and Reshaping the Future and Society" followed, moderated by Dr. Ziad Haylat, with the participation of Mr. Hani Mousa Al-Abdallah, President of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, Dr. Jaafar Shahabat from the Production Association, Dr. Ahmad Al-Aqili, Director of the National Center for Information Technology and Science, and Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science, Professor Dr. Qassem Al-Radaideh, in addition to student Zaid Abu Rumman.
A session was also dedicated to supporting companies to showcase their activities and the training and employment opportunities available to students and graduates. The day concluded with the reading of the comprehensive final recommendations, which emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between academia and industry and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship pathways for young people.
