Information Technology organizes a technical competition and a job fair
The Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science at Yarmouk University organized an open day for projects and a chatbot competition, featuring remarkable and diverse participation from students who presented outstanding projects in the field of artificial intelligence. Since the integration of artificial intelligence with practical applications has become the focus of business, this competition was organized with the aim of developing a smart chatbot specific to the university, capable of answering various inquiries related to university services and academic life, thereby enhancing the student experience and facilitating their access to information.
More than 24 teams participated in the competition, with seven teams reaching the final stage, all distinguished by a high level of performance. The team (Nova Cortex), consisting of students Shahla Al-Zawahra, Omar Mustafa, and Dana Bairat, achieved first place. And the second place was for the team (Name?) And composed of students Amr Bani Arshid and Ahmad Al-Halaq. And the third place went to the team (Yu chat), consisting of students Mona Al-Shadfan, Reem Al-Dweiri, and Bara'a Shalabi. The judging panel for the competition included colleagues from outside the college: Dr. Yanal Al-Ahmad and Dr. Anas Basoul from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Dr. Hazem Al-Najjar from Al-Balqa Applied University, and Dr. Mahmoud Musallam from Al-Huson College of Engineering Technology. The judges expressed their admiration for the excellence of the college students and the projects and solutions they presented in the competition.
During the competition, which was organized by a team of faculty members led by Dr. Tarek Al-Daradkeh, a group of student teams presented their projects to representatives from companies and submitted their resumes for networking and future communication purposes to explore the possibility of employment or adopting these projects.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Qassem Al-Radaideh, accompanied by the Deputy Dean, Dr. Imad Al-Shawafah, inaugurated the activities of the competition and the scientific day. At the end of the event, the dean handed out certificates to the participants and the judging committee, as well as medals to the top three places in the competition and the trophy to the first-place team. Gifts were presented to the winners, provided by SDK Training Academy.
In his closing speech, the Dean of the College appreciated the efforts of all participants, competing teams, supporting entities, and the judging committee. He praised the exceptional level of creativity and innovation presented in the competition. He thanked the judging committee and everyone who contributed to the success of this event. He indicated that there will be more initiatives to support technological creativity and enhance the role of youth in the field of artificial intelligence and technology. As the dean mentioned, the winning application will be submitted to the university's Computer and Information Center for the possibility of adopting it on the university's website.
