Information Technology organizes a second workshop in collaboration with the Production Association.
In response to the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission's plan to develop information technology programs concerning linking the graduation projects of information technology students in Jordanian universities with the industry, and in implementation of the memorandum of understanding recently signed by Yarmouk University with the IT Association, the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science at Yarmouk University hosted Dr. Jaafar Shahabat, the person in charge of the TechForward initiative, which links graduation projects with the industry in partnership with the IT Association and supported by GIZ, to discuss the initiative and clarify its concepts.
The director of the initiative at the Production Association, Dr. Shahabat, explained that the initiative aims to create effective communication bridges between universities and the business sector by involving academics and students with companies from the early stages of project development. The goal is to transform students' ideas into applicable and marketable products and services that meet the changing market demands, as well as to engage students in finding solutions to issues raised by companies.
During the workshop, the Dean of the College, Dr. Qassem Al-Radaideh, met with the attendees and clarified the College Council's decisions regarding the necessity of linking graduation projects to community needs and connecting them with a private sector entity or any entity that would benefit from the project's idea, with follow-up from that entity. He also mentioned that ten marks out of the project grade have been allocated for students who complete a specialized training course in English for Information Technology, which can be taken from various sources, including the Cisco Global Academy, the Jordanian Edraak platform, or courses from the Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies at Yarmouk University.
