The Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science at Yarmouk University organized a Problem Solving competition titled YUCPC-2025 with wide participation from the college students, aiming to develop students' analytical thinking skills and enhance their programming abilities, as well as their capacity to deal with technical challenges and solve problems.
The competition, organized by the assistant dean Dr. Enas Khashashneh, included thirteen programming challenges that the participating teams had to find effective solutions for using different programming languages. The solutions were evaluated based on criteria of accuracy, efficiency, and speed of execution.
The competition lasted for four and a half hours, aiming to measure students' skills in algorithmic analysis and problem-solving under time pressure. Both student Mohamed Abu Sini and student Younes Al-Majdalawi were responsible for preparing the competition questions and participating in the judging process, where they expressed their appreciation for the outstanding level demonstrated by the students in terms of discipline and the quality of the solutions presented.
The Vise Dean, Dr. Imad Al-Shawqafah, honored the students who secured the top three positions and also distributed certificates to all the students who participated in the competition. Additionally, the best team of female students from the college was recognized for solving the challenges.
The results of the top three positions were as follows:
First place: Team ElgreedyHaram, which consists of the students: Ahmed Khaled Al-Quraan, Omar Mustafa Qassem, and Amr Munir Bani Arshid.
Second place: Team SkillIssue, which consists of the students: Aws Sami Baouni, Abdulrahman Nawasra, and Wadi Bilel Younes.
Third place: AttackOnProblems, which consists of the students: Yanal Amjad Mustafa, Mohammad Bassam Asbih, and Mohammad Ahmad Rashdan.
The Dean of the college, Dr. Qasem Al-Radaideh, explained that the competition provides students with an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to practical problems, which contributes to developing their abilities in logical thinking and working under pressure, noting that these skills are considered fundamental pillars required in the job market.
