Yarmouk University has made remarkable academic progress by advancing two categories on the QS World University Rankings for 2026, reaching the (851-900) category, compared to the (951-1000) category last year. According to the ranking results, Yarmouk University's overall score improved by 70.6% compared to last year, reflecting the institutional strategy that Yarmouk is following to enhance the quality of education, elevate the level of research and scientific publishing, and expand its academic influence on a global scale.
In an analytical reading of the results of this ranking, there has been a notable increase this year in the number of universities evaluated by 50% compared to the number of universities evaluated last year, with 8,467 universities from 106 countries around the world being evaluated, compared to 5,663 universities last year.
According to the ranking results announced today, Thursday, only 1,501 universities were ranked out of the total evaluated universities, with 112 universities entering the ranking this year and 114 universities from various countries exiting, reflecting the intensity of academic competition and the high evaluation standards witnessed in the 2026 ranking at the international level.
For his part, the university president, Dr. Islam Massad, stated that this qualitative advancement in the QS World University Rankings embodies the academic thought and serious will to adopt innovation, leadership, and inclusive education as a sustainable "Yarmoukian" thought and project, grounded in academic and research quality and distinguished scientific production.
He added that the results of such international academic rankings would enhance the status of Yarmouk University and its presence on the scientific map of universities and educational institutions through international partnerships. At the same time, he emphasized that this achievement is the fruit of the collective and integrated efforts of all members of the teaching and administrative staff and students, who worked in a team spirit based on institutional loyalty and commitment to the highest quality standards.
Massad confirmed that this achievement places us before a doubled responsibility to maintain this success and expand its impact at both the local and international levels, and to exert more effort in the coming years to reach the status that Yarmouk University deserves, along with its value and responsibilities in the fields of education, scientific research, and serving the Jordanian, Arab, and humanitarian communities.
