A distinguished reception for new students at the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science 2024

The Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science welcomed a new batch of students for the academic year 2024-2025 this week. The faculty held a special ceremony to mark the beginning of the academic year, under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Qassem Al-Radaideh, where the new students gathered in the main hall of the university's conference building. At the beginning of the meeting, the Dean welcomed the students and attendees with a welcoming speech, congratulating them and their families on their acceptance to the prestigious Yarmouk University and the distinguished programs of the faculty. He emphasized the importance of information technology programs in the modern era and the future, and the role of the faculty in preparing the competencies required in the job market.

He also reviewed the college's inception, academic departments, and the programs available within it. He provided the new students with a set of tips for starting their university studies and how to excel academically and in extracurricular activities, which open up early engagement opportunities in the job market.

As the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Enas Al-Khashashneh, pointed out the importance of academic excellence and how students can benefit from the activities offered by the college to support them in their academic journey.

A representative from the Quality and Accreditation Center delivered a speech during the meeting, highlighting the university's vision and mission, emphasizing the importance of the recent ABET international accreditation obtained by the college, and offering several pieces of advice to the students.

The college representative in the student union, Samer Al-Mustarihi, spoke about the role and importance of the student union at the university in helping students solve their problems and listening to them.

In a special and distinguished segment, a group of outstanding and distinguished students from the college shared their personal experiences and advice for success in university life, the importance and how to participate in competitions and workshops, and early interaction with the job market. The meeting was a wonderful opportunity for new students to interact with senior students and learn about strategies for success and excellence.

In this regard, the student Abada Abdullah presented his experience in designing games of various types, both 2D and 3D, and talked about the most important competitions he participated in and won. He also showcased several games he designed. The student Wisan Yaqoub spoke about the importance of the Business Information Technology program and how artificial intelligence and business can be integrated to develop this field. She concluded her talk by mentioning the most important competitions she participated in and won.

As for the student Fatima Shaqirat, she addressed the importance of the cybersecurity program and talked about the key job opportunities it provides. She also mentioned that she has signed a work contract with the most important cybersecurity companies in Jordan.

Student Omar Bani Yasin spoke to the students about one of the most important cybersecurity competitions, CTF, which allows students to apply what they have learned theoretically in a practical and enjoyable way. He talked about his participation in many of these competitions and his achievement of advanced positions in them.

The students Ammar Al-Momani and Ammar Abu Mahna concluded the meeting with the students by discussing their experience in the student exchange program implemented by Yarmouk University with many countries around the world, such as Sweden and Germany. They talked about the importance of benefiting from the experiences of teachers and students in other countries and how this opportunity allowed them to build strong relationships with many experts and distinguished individuals in the field of information technology in these countries.

At the end of the meeting, which was conducted by student Majd Al-Omari, the quota representative in the Student Union, and attended by the vice deans, department heads, and several faculty members, and lasted for nearly three hours, the college announced its preparations to organize a series of workshops and seminars in the coming weeks to enhance student interaction and develop their technical skills.
