To activate the agreement signed by Yarmouk University with the Chinese company Huawei, Professor Dean Dr. Qasem Al-Radaideh met with Mr. Saeed Al-Sabbagh, Director of Public Relations and the Academic Sector at Huawei Jordan, where they discussed how to benefit from and activate the recently concluded agreement between Yarmouk University and Huawei.
The discussion was about how to participate in the Huawei Global ICT Competition, a competitive event for talent exchange in the field of information and communication technology, developed by Huawei for university students worldwide in the Middle East and Central Asia, to promote the healthy development of the ICT talent system and to support the integration of industry with education.
This competition is held annually and involves approximately 5,000 students from various public and private Jordanian universities. The competition includes three important tracks: the networking track, the cloud computing track, and the computing track.
The dean also discussed with Mr. Al-Sabbagh the academic aspect of the agreement, its activation mechanism, and how to encourage the teaching and administrative staff in the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science and the Al-Hijjawi Faculty of Engineering to participate in it and benefit from it in the practical aspects of artificial intelligence and networks courses taught at Yarmouk University.
It was agreed to organize a workshop next week, which will be held online and organized by Huawei in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. Faculty members from the relevant colleges will attend to explain how to register and benefit from Huawei Academy courses and to adopt them within the curriculum, as well as to encourage students to take advantage of the educational materials offered by Huawei Academy for free.
It is worth mentioning that the college continuously participates in the Huawei Global Competition, and one of the students won first place at the level of Jordan, then at the level of the Middle East and Africa. He also secured second place in the global competition.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Enas Al-Khashashneh, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Rashdan, the laboratory and technician supervisor at the college.
