The Jordanian team consisting of student Mansour Al-Homoud from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science
at Yarmouk University, Zaid Afaneh, and Mohammed Abu Shukr from Princess Sumaya University for Technology ranked third among 13 teams that gathered 39 students from various countries in the Middle East at the 2019 Huawei Global Competition, which was held recently at the company's headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

Kafafi congratulated the students of the competition,Expressing the pride of Yarmouk for the outstanding students who have proven their scientific and academic excellence in various competitions at the local, Arab and international level, stressing the university's keenness to support and care for its creative students, and follow-up their educational career, and qualify them with the basic scientific skills necessary to raise their level of competitiveness in the international labor market, and to be able to bring about the positive change required for Jordan's progress .

The 2019 finalists attracted more than 21,000 students from 437 colleges and universities from Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Jordanian Ambassador to Beijing, Hossam Al-Husseini, and the President of Huawei in the Middle East, Charles Yang, presented the students with their prizes.The Ambassador congratulated the Jordanian team for winning this rank in the Huawei competition, expressing his pride in the level of students participating in this team representing the ambitious and proactive Jordanian youth, and appreciated Huawei's efforts in supporting youth cadres and creative people.

Yarmouk University, represented by Dr. Abdul Raouf Bsoul, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science, Dr. Faris Matalqa, Assistant Dean of the Hijjawi College of Technology Engineering, and Dr. Sanaa Al-Awdat, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Science, participated in the activities of the international accreditation workshop held recently at the headquarters of the General Union of Arab Universities.

The three-day workshop, led by Dr. Adnan Nayfeh and Dr. Hani Al Tabbaa, is an expert in the field of international accreditation.

The workshop dealt with the main themes and methodological steps for the preparation of engineering, computer science and applied sciences programs to obtain ABET accreditation.

The workshop was attended by faculty members from Arab universities from Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya and Yemen.

It is noteworthy that the Hijjawi Colleges of Technology Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, and Science at Yarmouk University have started preparing for the purposes of applying for international accreditation.

Prof. Ahmed Al-Taani at the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science at Yarmouk University - Department of Computer Science - participated in the activities of the Fifth International Conference "The Role of Information and Communication Technology in Agriculture, Biotechnology and Food Security", which was held recently at the University of Monastir, Tunisia, organized by ISESCO and the Islamic Network International Information Technology.

 During his participation, Al-Taani presented a working paper entitled "The latest methods of artificial intelligence in agriculture and food security", which dealt with the latest research that used algorithms and applications of artificial intelligence such as expert systems and artificial neural networks in the field of agriculture, which includes smart irrigation methods, breeding and management of crops, and modern strategies In food security.

Researchers from 25 Arab and foreign countries specialized in agriculture, biotechnology and food security participated in the conference.

Three teams from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science at Yarmouk University participated in the cybersecurity competition `` METACTF JORDANS 'CAPTURE THE FLAG 2019' at Princess Sumaya University of Technology, for 10 hours starting from 9 am to 7 pm, with the participation of more than 50 Students from different Jordanian universities.

The team (Sniper & Troll) won the ninth position and it is composed of (Muhammad Orabi, Omar Yahyia, Adam Sabbah). And the team (Honeypot )won the tenth position and it is composed of (Dania Aljahmany, Reema Al-zoubi, Aya Abu Rashed and haneen Zyad)

This competition is one of the most famous competitions in the field of ethical hacking and information security, in which the teams compete to penetrate the systems, sites and electronic networks have been built specifically, containing security vulnerabilities to be discovered by the participating teams and consists of many areas such as testing penetration of web applications, Checking networks, systems, and services, decoding, programming, and analyzing network communications.

The aim of this competition is to expand the perception of Jordanian university students and guide them to the right path in information security, introducing them and qualifying them to enter and participate in international competitions of this kind.

The Vice President of Yarmouk University for Scientific Faculties and Financial Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Al-Ajlouni, has met with Huang Chessy, the Public Relations Manager at Huawei in Jordan, and they discussed possible cooperation between the two sides in areas of mutual interest. Al-Ajlouni affirmed Yarmouk's devotion to extending cooperation with Huawei, considering it as one of the leading companies at the international level in the ICT sector. Also, he pointed out the widespread achievement of the company in Jordan through its cooperation with Jordanian telecommunications companies. Then he expressed his hope that the cooperation between Yarmouk and Huawei will be framed to establish the "Huawei Academy" at the university, which is a platform for training and developing human resources in the ICT sector. Prof. Al-Ajlouni explained that such an academy supports the plans and visions of the university to train students and qualify them with modern scientific skills and knowledge and that it may direct all vital sectors to advanced technological solutions. Moreover, Prof. Al-Ajlouni emphasized the high scientific level of graduates of Hijjawi Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science at the University, who have proven their competence in the labor market and received multiple scientific awards at the local, regional and international level. He added that the university seeks to engage its students in various methodological and extracurricular competitions, believing in the importance of these participations to develop the participants' skills and enrich their knowledge, thus raising the level of competitiveness in the labor market.

In his turn, Chessey praised the outstanding scientific reputation of Yarmouk University, especially in the fields of engineering and information technology, and he expressed his hope that a huge number of university students would participate in Huawei ICT competition for the Middle East this year. He explained that the competition aims at developing talents in the ICT industry. However, Chessey pointed out the possibility of working by both sides and framing future cooperation between Huawei and Yarmouk in areas of common interest. He also emphasized the possibility of opening the Hawai Academy at Yarmouk University to provide training and rehabilitation services for university students and community members in the northern region.
